The FITE General Members Meeting, held in Segovia following the competition, was attended by Lee Ann Bunn, Mary Harcourt, Kim Stoddard, and Tim Thomas.
In brief, Frederique Bioux (elected FITE president in 2015) appeared to have respectfully considered suggestions and requests made by members at the last general meeting, and promised to improve the way FITE communicates with it’s members. Mr. Bioux placed emphasis on the purpose of the FITE to promote Equestrian Tourism in addition to promoting the sports of TREC and Working Equitation for which FITE is the international governing body. In regards to TREC, FITE is planning to meet with the FEI to seek recognition for the sport as a discipline. Additionally, overtures were made to provide training for international judges in North America for both Ridden and Driven TREC. New board members voted in were: Adrian Flynn (Ireland), Jean-Louis Mermillod (Italy) and Kim Stoddard (USA). Ingrid Helmes (Netherlands) re-elected for a second term.
