TREC-USA Instructors

Recognized ridden TREC-USA instructors possess TREC knowledge, skills, and experience. They are recognized to instruct at Levels 1-2 or Levels 1-4 in each of the following phases: Phase I: Orienteering (POR) or Phase II: Control of Paces (COP) and Phase III: Obstacles (PTV).

TREC Knowledge

Each instructor has thorough, up-to-date knowledge of TREC Rules and has completed National Level Instructor Training.

TREC Skills

Each instructor has skills and experience training horse and riders in flatwork, obstacles, and strategies to handle common trail situations. Orienteering instructors must have strong map skills and a clear understanding of reading terrain, setting pace, and using a compass.

TREC Experience

Each instructor has participated in the sport of TREC as rider, driver, coach, judge, or team member.
